When you have an emergency and dial 911, do you know who responds to help you and your family at your greatest time of need? They are your neighbors, your co-workers, your friends and other caring people in your community. They are the Jonesville Volunteer Firefighters and you could be one of us!
Your fire department is staffed by volunteers, people like you, and at various times volunteers are scarce. We are an active fire department with an annual volume of 800 1000 calls. We are looking to increase our membership with others who may be interested in contributing to their community and the fire service.
The Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department (JVFD) responds to vehicle, residential and commercial fires, downed power lines, lost person searches, smoke and carbon monoxide detector alarms, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies. As a volunteer firefighter, you will respond to these emergencies and use the training and skills we provide you to help those in need. When there is an emergency in the Jonesville Fire District, our pagers are activated and all available firefighters respond to the fire station. Then various crews report to the scene with the apparatus, tools and equipment required to provide assistance. Your selfless actions as a volunteer firefighter will help save lives and property. No prior experience is necessary. As a volunteer firefighter, you will receive initial New York State Training in various subject matter along with department in-house training. We will also give you the opportunity to attend continued training classes in both firefighting and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to enhance your knowledge and expertise at no cost to you.
The members of the JVFD are caring and dedicated men and women who are prepared to respond to your aid when you call for help. Please consider volunteering and becoming a Jonesville firefighter. For more information, visit our website at www.jonesvillefire.org, stop by Station 1 at 953 Main Street during business hours . We meet every Wednesday at both Stations at 6:30 pm for our weekly training drill.
